During one of his trips, veteran actor Prakash Raj realized the importance of returning to theatre. He pondered over whether to act, direct, or pursue something different to make an impact. Eventually, he decided on an incubator model. Named Nirdigantha, meaning endless horizons, the theatre incubator was created to nurture creativity and innovation in performing arts. With a vision to provide a platform for the current generation to sharpen their skills and showcase their talents, the incubator recently marked its first anniversary. Prakash Raj aims to foster talent, empower artists, and encourage diverse artistic expressions through this initiative.

The incubator offers a support system for directors and actors to develop original plays, including funding, accommodation, and other essentials for a period of up to 45 days. The resulting productions are then taken on a tour for three months, allowing artists to gain practical experience and exposure. Prakash Raj emphasizes his desire to expand the reach of theatre beyond Bengaluru and tap into the wealth of talent present across Karnataka's different regions.

Reflecting on the present state of art forms, Prakash Raj laments the absence of synergy that previously existed between literature, theatre, art, and cinema. He envisions a return to the era where these forms intertwined harmoniously. Taking proactive steps, he initiated the theatre incubator to bridge the gaps and foster collaboration among diverse art forms.Theatre artists who are aiming to explore artistic expression without emphasis on activism or complacency are invited to participate in our initiative, Shalaranga. This project is centered on research rather than training young individuals in theatre. Through Shalaranga, we aim to address the importance of incorporating social justice, sensitivity, and scientific thinking within the educational system, in alignment with global standards. Our dedicated team of twelve members undergoes intensive training for three months before embarking on performances across various locations each year, with a focus on documenting the impact of these activities. Actor Prakash Raj highlights the shift towards pan-Indian audiences seeking diverse content amid the pandemic. Emphasizing the importance of language in connecting with audiences, Raj delves into the intricacies of different languages to effectively portray diverse roles in various film industries.
